Kwadacha is an Athapascan word meaning "white water", named by the Sekanni for its' colour; the river is fed by the Kwacacha Glacier of Lloyd George icefield and has a very high concentration of rock flour, making the water milky. This area of rugged limestone mountains and tumbling glaciers is described by the Sekanni as "mountains of the gods"
