Under Water Record 8 June 1878, the Tsawawmuck Indian Reserve, through H. Graham, Indian Agent, claimed the water of Ainslie Creek which flows through the north corner of their reserve. In 1919, F.W. Knewstubb, Water Rights Branch Engineer, reported on another claim here: "Ainslie Creek (probably the same as Nine Mile Creek or Chaumox Creek) etc, etc....". This has been known in the Water Branch Records since then as Ainslie Creek.
