This double-summit was infrequently called "Dogtooth", and has also been mistaken as Mount Powell (Mount Powell is the next summit westward), according to Kellerhalls.

After Doogie Dowler, resident of Refuge Cove and Heriot Bay from 1949 to 1983; owned and operated the Heriot Bay store and post office for many years. This mountain is visible from the Heriot Bay store.
