"Camp Artaban (Settlement), not Artaban (Steamer Landing)" adopted 3 March 1949 on C.3586. Mis-identified as Artaban (Steamer Landing) in the 1953 BC Gazetteer; correctly identified as Camp Artaban (Settlement) in the 1966 BC Gazetteer et seq. Form of name changed to Camp Artaban (Locality) 29 November 1984 on 92 G/6. See Mount Artaban for origin information.

"Long Bay (settlement)" identified on BC name card as old/other name for Camp Artaban. The camp was established in 1924, by Reverend J.N. Brachner. (letters 24 August 1926, 20 July 1929, 19 August 1929, file F.1.34 #3)
