Origin Notes and History:

Gabriola Sands Park established by Order in Council 1531, 28 June 1960. Boundary extended by inclusion of the area formerly known as Gabriola Sands Recreation Area per OIC 393, 21 March 1989; the whole now containing 5.5 ha. more or less. Boundary redescribed per OIC 1245, 29 September 1994. Conversion of OIC to Statute designation per Bill 17-2000: Protected Areas of British Columbia Act, 29 June 2000; the whole containing 5.3 ha. more or less. Redescribed per Bill 50-2004: Parks and Protected Areas Statutes Amendment Act, 17 May 2004; the whole containing approximately 6 hectares (2 hectares of upland and 4 hectares of foreshore).
