Origin Notes and History:

Adopted in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924. "Ridley Island (not Flat Island)" identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Ridley Island confirmed 3 July 1946 on C.3702 and 8 July 1954 on 103 J/1. The shallow passage between Kaien and Ridley Islands has been filled in (ie. this isn't an "island" anymore) but the name remains firmly-established.
