Identified as Port Edward (Post Office) in 1966 B.C. Gazetteer. Incorporated as Village Municipality 29 June 1966. Re-incorporated as a District Municipality 17 April 1991, called District of Port Edward; name confirmed 8 November 1991 on 103J/1 and on 103J/8.
