Established by Order in Council 2882, 27 February 1972, containing 249,999 acres more or less. Area reduced by 96,770 hectares per OIC 396, 21 March 1989, and transferred into Mount Edziza Park. Recreation Area cancelled per OIC 243, 19 March 2003.
