Morrison Mountain adopted 5 April 1927 on C.313. Form of name changed to Mount Morrison 30 September 1946 on c.3735; confirmed 8 July 1954 on 103J/1.

Surveyed and named in 1914 by Captain P.C. Musgrave, after Mr. Charles Morrison who, in 1866, was a member of the Collins Overhead Telegraph Company and recorder of the Skeena River expedition under Capt. James L. Butler. In 1869 Musgrave took a position with the Hudson's Bay Company at Port Simpson as an assistant to Robert Cunningham, taking charge in 1870 when Cunningham retired to set up his own business.
