Adopted 7 March 1933 on Geological Survey map 278A, Prince Rupert, as labelled on British Admiralty Chart #1923A, published in 1870 from surveys conducted in 1867 by Daniel Pender, RN. [the island is roughly outlined and unnamed on the earlier edition of this chart, showing results of Pender's 1866 reconnaissance surveys in the area.]
