"The name comes from Wadin (pronounced wuh-DEEN), the Haisla name for the Little Wedeene River. The watershed comprises part of the Haisla Blackfish clan stewardship area which is traditionally owned by the holder of the Haisla name Wiisexs in each generation." (information contributed February 2007 by anthropologist James V. (Jay) Powell, Professor Emeritus, University of British Columbia, Vancouver; consultant to Haisla Nation, 2000-present).
