"Yeka" is recorded as being a Tahltan word for "daylight" (G.M. Dawson, List of Tahltan Words - Appendix II, Canadian Geological Survey, 1887-78, Part 1 p. 208B). The name is recorded as being suggested by E.R. McMinn (B.C. Land Surveyor) who surveyed in area for British Columbian government in 1955.
