Dunah Island adopted 2 June 1955 on 93K as originally submitted July 1940 by BC Geographic Branch, and as labelled on BC map 4C, 1940. Spelling changed to Dunih Noo Island 24 November 1980 by BC, as suggested by Stuart Lake Band. Department of Indian & Northern Affairs objected to spelling change, because of legal implications associated with non-synchronized survey plans and descriptions. Dunah Island reinstated 30 June 1981 on 93K/10 by BC (decision signed 25 May 1981 by DIAND).
