Named after Mr. William Treston, a pioneer of the district who travelled overland on foot from Bella Coola to the Terrace area in the early 1900's. Treston pre-empted land here in 1910. (February 1961 advice from Land Commissioner, Prince Rupert; the Land Commissioner, in turn, provided a hand-lettered map to Mr. Treston in June 1961, file T.1.48). Treston was a lighthouse keeper in the early 1960's, and died 8 March 1969 at Prince Rupert, age 88.
