Origin Notes and History:

Forestdale (post office & station) adopted 6 October 1936 on Geological Survey map 369A, Smithers, as labelled on BC Lands' map 3D, 1919. Form of name changed to Forestdale (station) 21 April 1966 on 93/NW. Form of name changed to Forestdale (locality) 29 November 1984 (Ottawa file 203-2).

South Bulkley Post Office was opened in this location 1 August 1910. Renamed Forestdale Post Office 1 August 1922. GTPR station, later CNR with 52-car siding; scheduled passenger service discontinued in May 1960; listed as a flag stop with mail crane in April 1961 and April 1964 timetables. Post Office was closed 31 July 1965 (at the time of closing the post office was situated in Lot 4396)
