Centreville (Settlement) adopted 1 June 1937 on Geological Survey sheet 381A, Eagle-McDame, as labelled on Jorgensen's 1895 map of BC, and on BC Lands map 1H, 1917. Confirmed 21 December 1944 on 104/NE and 6 June 1950 on 104P. Form of name changed to Centreville (Abandoned Locality) at an unspecified later date, as labelled on all editions of 104P.
