"We have 19 Cedar Creeks on record. This creek being in an area of important historical reference, it would be unwise to give a new name. At the same time it is essential that, being of lesser economic importance, this duplication be eliminated, [ while still ] retaining its' identity. Therefore the name Cedarflat is recommended, being named after a local feature in the area." (1938 notation on BC name card)
