Adopted 30 September 1932 on 82L/NE, as labelled on Geological Survey of Canada's preliminary edition of Map of a portion of the Southern Interior of British Columbia, published in 1887 from explorations made in 1877 by G.M.Dawson, and in 1882-4 by Amos Bowman; as labelled on BC Lands' Map of Eastern Part of British Columbia, 1888, and on Geological Survey sheet 669, Shuswap, 1898, and on BC Lands' map 1EM, 1915, and as identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer.
