Needle Point Mountain identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer, as labelled on Amos Bowman's 1887 map of Cariboo Mining District. Name changed to Kaza Mountain 28 April 1936 on Ottawa file OBF 1484.

"Needle Point" labelled on 1887 map of the Cariboo Mining District, to illustrate report in Canadian Geological Survey Report 1887-88, vol III, Pt. 1, Sec C. "Kaza Mountain (The Needle Point)" labelled on BC Lands map 3G, 1935. Kaza is an Indian word for "arrow" (W.H.Boyd, topographic survey.) "Needle Point Ridge" subsequently adopted, applying to the 7+km ridgeline that includes Kaza Mountain.
