Carter Creek adopted by BC 27 February 1978, as submitted August 1977 by Karl Ricker and Neal Carter, BC Mountaineering Club; this creek flows through Baptiste Smith Indian Reserve 1A. Department of Indian & Northern Affairs withheld approval of the name Carter Creek, because Samahguam Band Council advised that Kakila was the well-established name for the feature. Carter Creek renamed Kakila Creek 30 May 1978; approved by DINA 23 June 1978 on 92J/2.
