Named by H.D. Parizeau, Hydrographic Service, after Joseph Ulric Beauchemin, assistant hydrographer and senior assistant of the Atlantic Coast survey, who was in charge of a survey camp at Borrowman Bay on Aristazabal Island in 1922.
