Named to remember Royal Canadian Air Force Flying Officer Charles Richard Sandes, SJ22255, enlisted at Vancouver; serving as a pilot with 428 Squadron when he was killed in action 21 December 1943, age 21. Buried at Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany, coll.grave 9, G, 18-20. Survived by parents Charles Lancelot Compton Sandes and Georgie Helen Sandes, Victoria.
