Name originally submitted September 24, 1952 by J.M.Thorington for feature at 52 21 19 - 117 28 50 on 83C/6 (file 2239, 83/SW, Jasper Park South), but name not accepted by Minister of Resources and Development [for Parks Branch] who noted that mountains should be named after well known national and international figures (November 10, 1952 letter, file 2239, Jasper Park South). Geographic Board minutes Part 1, January 28, 1953 files 2239 and 0521 notes the original submission was not approved, but advises British Columbia that possibly a feature first ascended by Mr. Smythe near Mount Lloyd George could be named......
