Yukness Mountain adopted in the 5th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 30 June 1904; incorrectly identified in the 10th and subsequent Reports as Mount Yukness. Confirmed as Yukness Mountain 3 April 1952 on 82N/SE.

Named in 1894 by Samuel E.S. Allen; Yukness is a Sioux Indian word meaning "sharpened" (as with a knife).
