Campbell, BC Topographic Survey: "So-named on account of a red patch on the side of the mountain, Tlakwa being a Kwakiool word meaning "red" according to Comparative Vocabularies of the Indian Tribes of British Columbia, by Tolmie, W.F. & Dawson, G.M; Geological & Natural History Survey of Canada, 1884.
