Atluck is an anglicization, recorded in 1862 by Lt. Atkin and Dr. Wood, of the Indigenous name given by their Indigenous guides. (Information provided by local researcher who referenced The Victoria Daily Colonist, 13 Dec, 1862 and reports found in GR 1372, file 1215 as enclosures in Richards to Douglas, 20 Jun, 1862)
