Indian River, which flows into the head of Indian Arm, was formerly called Mesliloet, and appeared as Mesliloet River on Dominion Sectional Sheet 10, revised to 15 July, 1907. By 1914 "Indian River" was appearing on maps in place of Mesliloet (Map 2B, 1914) and in 1929, on Map 5B-North, Meslillooet Creek was placed on a tributary to Indian River. Soon after, "Meslillooet Mountain" made its appearance on a 1930 Departmental Plan 14T 264 (L.I. 20 May 1975).
