After Octavius Bentley Neves Wilkie (1872-1942), PLS, who worked at Trout Lake for many years, and apparently nicknamed "O.B.Joyful" by his peers. Born 22 November 1872 at County Dublin, Ireland, the son of Henry Wilkie who held the position of assistant registrar general of Ireland. Educated at Dublin and Glascow and came to British Columbia in 1887, arriving at Langley. Worked on the Alaska Boundary Survey and on the Coquitlam Waterworks location; articled to A.J.Hill, PLS, and received his commission (#43) in 1897. He then opened an office at Rossland and soon after moved to Merritt and eventually Victoria. He did considerable work in the boundary country and in the Kootenays. Member of the Board of Management of the British Columbia Land Surveyors 1912 - 1917; vice president 1918; president 1919 & 1920. Again was on the Board, VP and President in the 1930's. Married at Rossland to Miss Dora Watson (deceased 1939); daughters H.F.LeQuesne and Mrs. Arthur Williams; brothers Otway J.J.Wilkie and Walter Wilkie; sisters Mrs. Henry Holden, Mrs. William Morrison and Mrs. E.
