Origin Notes and History:

Bullrun Creek adopted 30 August 1943 on 93O/16; not "Bull Creek" as had been labelled on BC Lands' map 3Q, 1931 (file P.1.43). Originally flowed east directly into Peace River in the vicinity of 55° 59' 11" x 121° 59' 34" about 300m above Portage Creek; the lower channel of this creek has been diverted northward and now drains into Portage Creek.

Name change recommended by BC, to avoid duplication, although staff at Peace Canyon Generation Station advised in 1983 that old timers still call this Bull Creek - the profile of the nearby mountain resembles the head of a bull elk.

This may be the creek that Alexander Mackenzie notes 19 May 1793: "...we came upon an enclosure which had been formed by the natives for the purpose of setting snares for the elk..."
