Named c1860 by Captain Richards, RN, after Victoria ("Vicky") the Princess Royal of England who had recently married Friedrich III (Fritz"), the Crown Prince of Prussia. Born 21 November 1840, the first of 9 children born to Queen Victoria; married Friedrich, the Crown Prince, 25 January 1858; reigned as Emperor and Empress Friedrich of Germany for 98 days before the Emperor died of cancer in 1888; she died 5 August 1901.
