Labelled "Fifteen Mile Creek" on Geological Survey map 80A, Geology of the 49th Parallel, 1913, and so-identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. The suggestion to establish a more unique name made by T. Church, a long time resident - "Tillicum" being a Chinook Jargon word, meaning friendly meeting place for settlers and others.
