"This is an outstanding range and should be named, I am suggesting the names Rexford, Bell and Webb, three old-timers who have spent most of their lives in this particular valley. Webb traversed the whole of the Chilliwack River Valley as far as Chilliwack Lake, on the shores of which [he] has a cabin. Rexford has a cabin near Slesse Creek and has trap lines in the vicinity. I think the earliest of the three should have the mountain named after him, unfortunately I do not know which this is." (spring 1950 submission by G.C. Emerson, DLS, file C.1.50#1) [no subsequent notations or dates on file, to explain how "Rexford" was determined to be the earliest of the three old-timers.]
