Seton Lake (Post Office) identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Confirmed 6 September 1951 on 92 J. Form of name changed to Seton Portage (Village) 17 January 1952 on 92 J. Form of name changed to Seton Portage (Settlement) 19 March 1952 on 92 J. Identified as Seton Portage (Post Office) in the 1953 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Seton Portage (community) 28 February 1983 on 92 J/9. [the railway point here is named Seton.]
