Ootishenia (settlement) adopted 6 December 1951 on Columbia River Basin manuscript 14. Spelling changed to Ootischenia (settlement) 5 March 1959 on 82F/SW, as identified in 1945 Dept. of Education records and in 1955 RCMP Gazetteer. Subsequently changed to Ootischenia (community).
