Name change from Big Sheep Creek suggested by BC Geographic Division to avoid confusion with other similarly-named features, "taweh" being a Tagish Indian word for "mountain sheep." Dawson, published by Geological & Natural History Survey of Canada, 1884; also contained in "Report on an Exploration in the Yukon and Adjacent Northern Portion of British Columbia" by G.M.
