Odaray Mountain adopted in the 5th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 30 June 1904. Incorrectly identified in the 10th and subsequent Reports as Mount Odaray. Odaray Mountain confirmed 3 April 1952 on 82N/SE.

Named in 1894 by Samuel Evans Stokes Allen; odaray is the Stoney Indian word for "cone".
