Various phonetic spellings on Ref Map 12A and other early maps for Nusatsum Mountain and Nusatsum River: Nootsatsum, Noosatum, Nutsatsum, Nusatsum..... The spelling that most closely resembles pronunciation would be "Nusatsum" according to August 1946 letter from F.C. Swannell, BCLS, and R.P. Bishop, BCLS, to Surveyor-General, Ottawa. (files T.1.37 and O.1.46)

This is the "Mount Ararat" of an Indian legend, which told of a large canoe settling on the summit of this mountain as the waters of the great flood gradually receded.
