Adopted 15 December 1950, as identified in "The Purcell Range of British Columbia" by Dr. J. Munroe Thorington, published by the American Alpine Club, 1946, pp 92-108. Apparently also so-labelled on a 1931 map drawn by Thorington, submitted to the Geographic Board of Canada in 1937.
