Eight Mile Mountain adopted 12 December 1939 on BC map 5D. Named changed to Mount Dickey 2 December 1954 on 82NW, as submitted by Revelstoke Board of Trade (file B.2.41).

Re-named after Mr. Earle Dickey, a native son of Revelstoke and life-long resident. For many years was a very active chairman of the Tourist & Publicity Committee of the Board of Trade; he prepared all publicity folders and took many pictures which were distributed far & wide. He died in the summer of 1954.
