Named c1864-65 after Edgar Dewdney, who, in 1859 with Walter Moberly, RE, had constructed the "Dewdney Trail" from Hope to Rock Creek; later was appointed lieutenant-governor of BC. See also Victoria Colonist, 5-6 June 1983.
