Eddontenajon Lake adopted 5 February 1945 on 104/SE, not "Eddontenas Lake" as mis-spelled on BC map 5C, 1929, and as identified in the 1930 BC Gazetteer.

"Correct spelling is Eddontenajon, an Indigenous name meaning "child crying in the water", referring to the loons' call. Legend is that long ago a child was drowned in the lake and the loons' calls are actually the child's cries." (information relayed by P.M. Monckton, BCLS)
