Named to remember Canadian Army Private Douglas B. Eaton, K47131, from Chilliwack; Pte Eaton was serving with Westminster Regiment (Motors), Royal Canadian Artillery, when he was killed in action 31 August 1944, age 33. He is buried at Montecchio War Cemetery, Italy, grave III- E- 4. Survived by parents Robert Berry Eaton and Violet May Eaton, Chilliwack. Younger brother RCAF F/S William B. Eaton had been killed in action the previous October, and nearby Eaton Creek and Eaton Lake were named in his memory in 1962.
