Sydney Inlet was adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer, as labelled on British Admiralty Chart 584, published in 1866 from 1861 surveys, and as labelled on BC map 2A, 1920. Spelling confirmed 3 April 1934 on C. 3648. Had been mis-spelled "Sidney Inlet" on BC map 2A, 1913.
