Origin Notes and History:

The name "Mount Carson" was (incorrectly) adopted in this location 1 August 1957 on 92I/NW. Name changed to Pavilion Mountain 27 October 1965 on 92I/13, being the well-established local name.

The entire upland between Pavilion Lake-Marble Canyon and Kelly Creek-Junction Valley is labelled "Pavilion Mountains" on Geological Survey sheet 557, 1895.
