Origin Notes and History:
Mount Waddington adopted in the 16th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1919, as labelled on BC-Alberta boundary sheet 29, 1917. Form of name changed to Waddington Peak 17 January 1951 on Jasper Park (North) sheet, to avoid confusion with Mount Waddington in the Coast Range (and named for the same person).

After Alfred Waddington ( -1872), British Columbia pioneer, who in 1868 advocated a transcontinental railway through Yellowhead Pass.
