"Mike Dugan, an Englishman, and his son pre-empted land at the north end of this lake about 1910-12." (Place Names in the Cariboo by Helen C. Manning; 1943 thesis on file at UBC). According to c1942-43 advice from Miss A.L. Crosina, 153 Mile Store, Dugan died "about a year ago" in Williams Lake hospital.
