Dark Mountain adopted 1 June 1937 on Geological Survey sheet 381A, Eagle-McDame, as submitted May 1936 by Canadian Geological Survey; not "Black Mountain" as identified in earlier documents (titles/dates not cited). Change recommended to avoid confusion with numerous similarly-named features (correspondence on Ottawa file 1530). Elevation of 6470 feet.
