Origin Notes and History:

Adopted 24 November 1980 on 104G/10 as submitted by the Geological Survey of Canada (L.I. 15 November 1979). Initial sumbission was held, pending investigation, as of 2 January 1980, before being approved. It was recorded that there was a spectacular icefall at head of the valley.

"Tennaya" recorded as being derived from the Tahltan words "Ten" (ice) and "Naya" (be come down).
