Anahim Lake (Post Office) adopted 7 February 1947 on 93/SW; form of name changed to Anahim Lake (Community) 15 December 1982 on 93 C/6.

According to Post Office Department, "Sloan" was the name first suggested for the post office here, but not accepted because of duplication. Anahim Lake Post Office was opened 1 September 1939 on L405. Note that Anaham Post Office [sic], located west of here, was opened in 1907 and renamed Atnarko Post Office in 1913.
