Niskonlith River adopted 14 May 1928 on 82L/13 as listed in 1913, 1914, 1924 Gazetteers. Feature type changed 11 July 1963 on 82L/13 as Nisconlith Creek as listed in 1953 Gazeteer and as appears on Reference Map 604 "Shuswap; Geological" (1898), Reference Map 669 "Shuswap; Topographic" (1898), and on Reference Map 143A "Shuswap Lake" (1915) to reflect its short length (5m) and most common local useage. Note on file says "never officially submitted as a feature type change" (V.1.63). Likely named in affiliation with Niskonlith Lake.
